Dining out is always fun especially when joined by family and friends. Be it be just to try out the restaurant, have a relaxing meal with family and friends, and especially a romantic intimate dinner for two. Dining out has been a very important past time in our society that it is almost like an entertainment activity because dining out can sometimes make an ordinary day very interesting especially when good food and great conversation is combined while enjoying the ambiance. Believe it or not, the ambiance plays a vital role in the dining experience. Whether you are on a "date night" with your "special someone" or "in the getting to know someone" while dating, the restaurant you choose plays a big part in setting the mood right while still allowing you to concentrate on what matters the most, listening and engaging in a scintillating conversation. I have picked out my top 10 favorite restaurants in the valley that not only offers good food and great wine. These places I have picked also offers an outstanding experience that one will not dare forget. Some of the places I have picked have sommeliers and those who do not have one, the staff is very knowledgeable and are eager to please you. 1. Elements at the Sanctuary. Nestled in the Northern Slope of Camelback Mountain, you will find yourself falling in love with not only the view but with the menu as well. A very sleek, stylish, sophisticated yet casual setting, Elements offers a one of a kind experience. During the Summer time, you can enjoy the beautiful colorful sunset while during the Winter months, you can see the glistening lights of the city. Only offering the freshest ingredients that the season provides, you will want to keep on coming back each time the season changes. Each time the season changes, the menu changes. Elements is one of the few places where Oregon 9 can be found. For reservations please call them at 480 607 2300 2. Talavera at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale. I am not so sure when was the last time I got so excited and thrilled to have found another great restaurant until I visited Talavera. You are greeted warmly by the staff in the Onyx Bar. Then you get the chance to enjoy your evening inside or enjoy the spectacular view in the patio. The staff is very well trained to please their guests and is very knowledgeable about how their dish is prepared and what works well with the appetizers to the main dish to the best wine to pair it with to dessert! The food is simply divine! The dessert is a work of art! Without knowing that there will be some chocolate truffles waiting for us, I enjoyed my pistachio crème brulee at the patio and it was heaven on earth when I partnered it with Dolce! That was the best crème brulee I have ever tasted and the consistency was perfect! Their chocolate truffles are delicate and as good as the European truffle I have tasted. More importantly, this place is the best place to dine in Scottsdale because unlike most restaurants and resort restaurants in the area, Talavera is unpretentious. Reservations are suggested but not required. 3. Tarbells is my other favorite restaurant. It is found in a very humble strip in Camelback Road. Not a big fan of it's façade but I think it is what drew me to it. It's humbleness. Tarbells offers a very good dining experience not only to adult but to children as well. Attention to details is what you can expect from this very child friendly restaurant. When I took myself and my child to try this restaurant, my child was only three years old then. I was impressed with how friendly and welcoming they were to my child. I guess it is seldom that they see a child in there as the place is jam packed by bankers, lawyers and some realtors. It is a very nice experience to see Mark Tarbell say hello to everyone and actually have a little chit chat with it's patrons. To be honest, I made a reservation for one and a half at that time. My child enjoyed their gourmet pizza and mac and cheese! Try the salmon with potato cake and you will be tempted to ask for the recipe! 4. Maggiano's Little Italy located at 16405 N. Scottsdale Rd. offers one of the best lasagnas I have ever tasted! They are open for lunch and dining there is never second best. The serving portions are a bit big but you can always share it. The place can get really busy so if you want to try this restaurant with your family especially when you bring the little ones, it is best to go during lunch time. 5. Mastro's City Hall Steakhouse in Scottsdale is located facing the AmTrust building and is less than a minute away from the Scottsdale Fashion Mall. Regardless if you went there for happy hours or if you have a reservation, this is packed all the time. There's not a doubt that this place offers one of the best steaks in Arizona! The steaks are so juicy and in most cases, you may be seated promptly if you have made reservations otherwise you will be waiting for more than hour. This is a very casual place but very high end. Prepare to spend at least $65 to $75 at minimum per person when you go here. It can be loud there so this isn't really the place to do the "getting to know you" episode in your dating rituals. But if you are into great steaks and very flavorful appetizers and side dishes, this is the place to go. For reservations please call az 85251 480 941 4700 6. Different Point of View at Point Hilton. Is the ultra romantic and sexy place to go. This is what fine dining is about. Prepare to be seduced by the panoramic view that nothing but nature can offer...the stunning hues of the sky as the sun sets. This is fine dining at it's best. Relax and enjoy this sophisticated yet approachable destination as you take pleasure in tasting the well prepared menu and the delicate desserts as you open your senses to a new experience. After all, there is nothing compared to the feeling of dining as if you are on top of the world...literally. Reservations are recommended. 602 866 6350 7. Kincaids is located at the heart of the Metropolitan Phoenix area. This is place offers great food at affordable prices and offers a casual yet elegant dining experience. More importantly, this place is child friendly. When you are heading off to theater or watch a game, this is the place to go to especially when you have made reservations as the Maitre' D will always let the waiter know you have a limited time to eat. Then the waiter will give you suggestions as to what would be best to order so that your food will be done on time so that you can enjoy your meal without being hurried. THAT is good service and THAT is what makes this place one of the best. They always do their best to please and will do anything to please you. On top of good service, they will validate your parking from dinnertime through the end of the play or game. Which is an added bonus. 8. VA Bene is located in the Ahwatukee area of South Phoenix . Have an upscale Italian experience without breaking the bank...not even a small hole in the pockets! They offer a not so ordinary menu to please your palate. The dim lights do add a little flare to your dining experience whether you are with your special someone or dining with your kids. This is a very family oriented restaurant in the early evening. However, on the other side, it is another story. It is a place to kick back, relax, have a few drinks with friends and perhaps even dance the night away as the live band fills the room with an energetic vibe! No reservations necessary but if you are going there with a big party in tow, call them at 480 706 4070. 9. Rokerij is located between Bethany and Glendale Ave in 16th Ave close to the 51 freeway. This is a child friendly restaurant that can cater to up to 20 people for an event such as a birthday celebration. However, the downstairs area is what makes this place a little special! Enjoy the cracking sound of the wood by the fireplace as you enjoy sipping your wine or any choice of beverage during the winter months. I have always ordered the NY strip here and the portions are huge. This place isn't the restaurant to bring your date for a special dinner to but it sure is a great place to enjoy good food at very affordable prices. Call them at (602) 287-8900 10. Mastro's Ocean Club is located in the Kierland Commons in Scottsdale, specifically, North Kierland Blvd. This is a place to enjoy seafood. And believe me, here in Arizona, it is a task on it's own to find a reputable seafood place. This restaurant is part of the Masto's chain of restaurants and with that said, expect good good, great service and a nice culinary experience. A great place to go to after a day of shopping in the Kierland. This is a little pricey but youdo get what you pay for and it is worth every penny. Reservations are highly recommended unless you want to wait for hours. You may reach them at 480 443 8555. |
