The               voice               is               clear               and               the               volume               is               loud.

State               Senator               Leader               Russell               Pearce               runs               Arizona.

Last               fall,               Pearce               said               that               the               U.S.

Constitution's               14th               Amendment,               which               addresses               citizenship,               was               not               meant               to               apply               to               the               children               of               people               who               live               in               the               United               States               illegally.

"This               is               a               battle               of               epic               proportions,"               Pearce,               Republican,               said               at               a               press               conference               in               Arizona.

"We've               allowed               the               hijacking               of               the               14th               Amendment."               [1]               Russell               Pearce               is               the               instrumental               force               behind               SB               1070,               Arizona's               immigration               bill               and               he               has               made               it               clear,               he               will               not               stop               fighting               immigration               until               the               state               is               free               of               illegals               and               the               state               government               is               in               control               of               everything               from               birth               certificates               to               the               distribution               of               healthcare,               abortions,               education               and               anything               else               that               the               state               government               provides               or               is               responsible               for.

The               governor               has               handed               the               senate               leader               the               reigns               as               a               favor               she               '˜owed               him               for               getting               her               elected.

State               Sen.

Russell               Pearce               (R),               the               main               author               of               the               measure,               says               Brewer               owes               him               for               helping               her               get               elected.

"I               think,               out               of               fairness,               the               governor               would               have               to               admit               that               if               it               wasn't               for               1070,               she               wouldn't               be               elected,"               Pearce               told               3TV's               Mike               Watkiss               Tuesday               night.

"I               know               other               folks               ran               on               1070.

Nationally,               folks               ran               on               1070.

I               had               three               governor               candidates               call               me               to               do               calls               for               them               and               support               them,               not               because               I'm               Russell               Pearce,               but               I'm               the               face               of               1070."               [2]
               In               the               meantime,               two               groups               have               begun               recall               petitions               on               this               man.

They               are               trying               to               remove               him               from               office               as               he               is               now               responsible               for               6               million               Arizonians               rather               than               just               those               who               elected               him               in               his               district.

Taking               the               Senate               President               position               has               lifted               him               into               the               spotlight               for               these               recalls               as               the               statement               from               the               first               group               "Somos               Republicans"               who               state:               "We               find               Russell               Pearce's               overt               disdain               for               the               United               State's               Constitution               to               be               indicative               of               his               inability               to               govern               as               prescribed               by               his               job               description               and               the               oath               he               took               to               regain               his               seat               in               the               state               Senate."               
               The               second               group,               Citizens               for               a               Better               Arizona               is               a               coalition               of               concerned               citizens               committed               to               improving               the               quality               of               life               of               all               Arizonans.

The               Recall               Pearce               Project               was               created               to               improve               leadership               and               address               concerns               that               affect               those               in               Arizona.

Senator               Russell               Pearce               has               exploited               the               politics               of               fear,               hate,               and               division               to               champion               bills               and               policies               that               have               been               detrimental               to               Arizona               and               the               United               States.

We               need               to               move               Arizona               in               a               more               progressive               direction."               It               is               likely               these               two               petitions               will               be               combined               and               purged               of               invalid               signatures               before               a               recall               election               is               announced               by               the               Secretary               of               State               who               indicated               a               total               of               7,756               signatures               by               May               27               but               will               attempt               to               seek               as               many               as               15,000               signatures.

This               group               includes               leaders               of               domestic-violence-prevention               organizations,               labor               unions               and               immigrant-rights               groups.

Brian               Barabe,               a               member               of               the               non-partisan               faith-based               group               East               Valley               Patriots               for               American               Values,               called               Pearce               "too               extreme               for               Arizona."               "We               call               upon               the               state               Senate               and               the               House               to               take               a               new               direction               and               reject               Senator               Pearce's               policies               of               hate,               fear               and               division,"               Barabe               said.

Chad               Snow,               an               attorney,               Arizona               native,               Republican               and               a               member               of               the               Mormon               Church,               also               criticized               Pearce.

"Russell               Pearce               doesn't               represent               the               values               of               the               majority               of               Arizonans,               Republicans               or               members               of               the               LDS               Church,"               he               said.

Randy               Parraz,               a               Democrat               who               ran               unsuccessfully               for               the               U.S.

Senate               and               is               leading               the               group,               said               if               Pearce               continues               to               focus               on               immigration               and               guns               instead               of               jobs               and               education,               the               group               may               consider               a               recall               effort.

"We               will               not               tolerate               his               behavior,"               he               said.

"There               will               be               consequences."
               If               both               groups               are               successful               in               gaining               the               required               signatures,               the               petitions               would               be               combined               to               ensure               no               signatures               are               lost               in               the               process.
